The Ogle Saddlery Story
An avid horseman, archer, and outdoorsman…
John Ogle was first introduced to horses over 40 years ago, when he met his future wife, Nancy, in Tucson, Arizona. John and Nancy own beautiful, registered quarter horses and a riding mule. They enjoy pleasant rides near their secluded, off-the-grid ranch in northeastern Arizona, in addition to more extensive and challenging trail rides in the Blue Range Wilderness and Primitive Area, the Mt. Baldy Wilderness area, and the White Mountain Trail System, all also located in northeastern Arizona.
More than 25 years of experience in saddle building and repairs
John has been designing and building one-of-a-kind western saddles and tack for the past 25 years, in addition to doing saddle repairs and restorations. He also makes his own bows and arrows, and loads his own ammunition. He is trained as a farrier, and he shoes his own horses. Saddle making started as a hobby, including making saddles, saddlebags, chaps, and other tack for Nancy and himself.
Nation-wide famous products
For the past 10 years, John’s work has steadily shifted from making saddles and related tack to creating training equipment for horse trainers and students who specialize in “in-hand training”, or ground work (please refer to products/training equipment). He still does some saddle repair and restoration for local customers as well, but the popularity of his training equipment and quality of his hand-crafted work and willingness to work with various trainers on specific needs has made his training products popular all over the United States, and even in other countries as well. He has also created some new products such as decorative brow bands for cavessons, after discussing the desire for this product with some of his customers. The French working cavesson is one of his most popular products.
